What Happens During an Extraction?
Most extractions are relatively simple. As long as the tooth is already visible in your mouth, it can be loosened with a special device and taken out with forceps. Surgery is only necessary for teeth broken beneath the gum line as well as those that have failed to fully erupt (which is often the case for wisdom teeth). Thanks to modern techniques and local anesthetic, most patients don’t feel a thing while in the chair.
