Frequently Asked Dental Questions - La Cañada Flintridge, CA
The Answers Your Smile Needs
Our team understands that there is a lot to know when it comes to dentistry, so if you have questions, that’s perfectly OK! Fortunately for you, getting the answers you need won’t require you to spend hours on the internet—you can just ask our team! We’ve gone ahead and answered some of our most popular questions below, but if there is anything else you’d like to know more about regarding your family’s oral health and treatment options, you’re invited to give us a call any time.
When should I get a checkup and cleaning?
You (along with everyone in your family) should attend at least two checkups and cleanings each year. This is often enough for our team to catch any possible issues and treat them before they create lasting damage, plus we can help you remove plaque and tartar buildup that is beyond the reach of your brush and floss.
What should I do about my toothache?
Don’t ignore it! Rinse and floss around the tooth to remove any food debris that might be stuck. Is it still hurting? You might have a cavity or injury, in which case you should give our office a call. We can put a stop to the pain and underlying problem with a same-day emergency visit. In the meantime, rinse with saltwater and take an OTC pain medicine.
Does Dr. Albert see children?
Yes, Dr. Albert is happy to treat patients of all ages, including the youngest members of your family. We have plenty of services specifically designed to help growing smiles, plus Dr. Albert knows how to talk to children and can teach them to form positive oral habits as soon as possible.
How long will it take to fix my tooth?
It depends! Minor decay or damage can usually be repaired with a tooth-colored filling in a single appointment, but for severely broken teeth, we may recommend a crown. This can take two appointments to design and place. We’ll let you know which option is right for you when you come to see us.
I’m really nervous about going to the dentist. How can you help me relax?
We know that a lot of patients aren’t exactly fans of the dentist. That’s why we like to slow things down and take the time to talk to our patients before we provide any care. That way, we can listen to your concerns and do whatever we can to ensure a comfortable and productive appointment. You can give us a call ahead of your visit and let us know what we can do to make your time with us more relaxing.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
Yes, our practice accepts most dental insurance plans. You can learn more about using your specific plan with us by giving us a call.
