Gum Disease Treatment - La Cañada Flintridge, CA
Relieve Your Sore & Bleeding Gums
When healthy, your gums play the important role of holding your teeth in place and protecting the roots from bacteria and external injury. But when these soft tissues become infected, they can suddenly present a threat to your smile. Gum disease starts as mild gingivitis but can eventually turn into periodontitis and lead to tooth loss. Calling Dr. Albert as soon as you notice bleeding or swelling inside your mouth will allow him to save you from a more complex oral health issue in the long term.

Scaling & Root Planing
When gum disease has reached the point where bacteria-filled pockets have started to form between the teeth and gum tissue, Dr. Albert may recommend a two-part deep cleaning. During the first step, he’ll use a process called scaling to remove harmful plaque and tartar buildup from the area above and below the gum line. The second step is called root planing, which involves smoothing the tooth roots so that they can reattach to the teeth and heal more easily.
