Will a Root Canal Hurt?
Compared to your toothache, the actual root canal procedure will cause little discomfort, if any. Your mouth will be numbed beforehand, making the following treatment no more uncomfortable than getting a routine filling. You may notice some soreness once you can feel your mouth again. This is only temporary and should go away on its own after a few days. At a follow-up appointment, the tooth will be further rebuilt using a custom crown.
